SPECIAL CHARITY EVENT
The Oncology Day Unit at North Tyneside Hospital provide treatment, care and support for patients with cancers, including Pancreatic Cancer. Sue McGurk, who is a former volunteer at North Shields Juniors, and wife to long standing Juniors’ coach Chris Sharman, has been diagnosed with, and is being treated for Pancreatic Cancer, with fantastic support from the Unit.
Pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage and for Sue, she has a terminal diagnosis. The Unit need support to buy equipment and materials to help keep patients comfortable during their treatment. Sue has had some amazing treatment and support from the staff on the ward in the last few months, and she would love to help the staff be able to continue to provide support for all cancer patients.
On Friday 1st April, we are arranging a charity match to raise funds to support Sue raise money for the Unit. Chris will manage a team of ex-Junior’s players with former top club coach Howie Green. They will take on a team of coaches led by legend Andy Bowman. The match will be supported by raffles, domino & football cards and refreshments on the night. Afterwards, the Three Sails Bar will welcome players and supporters.
